Brooklyn Nine Nine was renewed for a sixth season with 18 episodes after Fox Network handed over responsibility to NBC.
The show was originally meant to be cancelled after the fifth season, but because of their enthusiastic fan base, it was brought back. Season Six had many changes some of which left fans feeling a little low. Chelsea Peretti who plays the sassy desk worker Gina Linetti, announced that she was leaving the show. Although, she did make cameos, it is doubtful whether she will make an appearance in Season 7.
The season was filled with humor, and dealt with serious issues as well, just like every other season. Everyone was delighted to see ‘Peraltiago’ focused episodes. The fans have lovingly bestowed Jake and Amy with that nickname, because they ship the couple;
The season ended with a thrill where the detectives teamed up with very unusual allies to bring down Commissioner Kelly making Madeline Wuntch the Acting Commissioner. She then demotes Captain Holt to a traffic officer, so he can complete the required period of being an officer before he can become a detective. Terry takes the Captain’s place as acting head since he recently became a Lieutenant.
Dan Goor and Micheal Schur, the creators of the show, confirmed that there will be a Season 7. Although there are rumors that it will be the last season, but nothing has been confirmed yet. Season 6 was only supposed to have 13 episodes, because the network didn’t know if there was place for any other story.
Season 7 will release in early 2020, and fans can expect a trailer during Comic Con this year. The last season had a few of the actors directing the episodes. Melissa Fumero and Joe Lo Truglio tried their hand at it and it was a successful attempt. Hopefully, we will get the chance to experience more of this in the upcoming seasons.
Online streaming site, Netflix only has five seasons, and will probably add the next two seasons in the coming years.
