Recently, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry shared a post on their official Instagram account. The post was a quote by Archbishop, Desmond Tutu, that read-
“Do your little bit of Good where you are; it’s those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world.”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, have perpetually propagated various environmental and wildlife causes.
However, they received backlash and criticism from many for flying on private jets and causing pollution but increase carbon release in the environment.
Apparently, last week Meghan Markle and Prince Harry had used private planes, a couple of times to fly to Ibiza and then Nice. Reportedly, the private jets emit carbon-di-oxide nearly six times more than a regular fight.
The couple was criticized by royal fans and many politicians for being hypocritical, given their campaigning on environmental issues.
Comments such as ‘practice what you preach’ started floating on the post. Though the post was clearly meant to inspire, it, in fact, added fuel to the fire.
Earlier this month Prince Harry had made a speech (some sites state that he spoke barefoot) to take action against climate change.
On August 6, the duo flew to Ibiza for six-day to celebrate actress, Meghan Markle’s 38th birthday. The round trip is estimated to have cost $72000.
In defense of the royal couple, some sites report that they were compelled to use private planes because they required ‘high-level of much-needed protection.’
Sources even say that the private plane was carbon neutral, and appropriate contribution was made to Carbon Footprint.
Celebrities like Elton John and Ellen DeGeneres also showed support to the Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. They even tweeted against all the hate comments the Royal Couple has received so far.
