Singer Miley Cyrus left the audience surprised and overwhelmed, with her debut performance of new single, ‘Slide Away’ at MTV VMAs, 2019.
Besides her surprise appearance, the emotional song, which the American singer released after her separation from husband, Liam Hemsworth, completely spell bounded the show, and it wouldn’t be an overstatement if sites report that she stole the show.
With mesmerizing vocals, the performance was filmed with a black and white filter, adding to the elegance. The singer wore a black dress as she performed in front of the string section that was placed around the perimeter of the stage.
Cyrus, gave the live performance, singing, “Once upon a time it was paradise, Once upon a time I was paralyzed…” on Monday, August 26, 2019. The song was released on August 16, 2019.
Riding on the charts, merely two weeks after release, ‘Slide Away’ has been the breakup anthem. Despite having previously stated by Cyrus that there’s no way she’d perform at the show, she was nominated in two categories at VMAs- Best Power Anthem and Song of the Summer.
Other scheduled performance included those of epic artists like Shawn Mendes, Taylor Swift, Camila Cabello, and Missy Elliot.
Cyrus’ this piece, ends a notable 2010s at the VMAs. Through these years, she’s come in the news in 2013, for a controversial performance alongside Robin Thicke, in 2015, when she announced the bowl over the release of her then-new album, Miley Cyrus and Her Dead Petz and a live debut show of her Younger Now album’s title track in 2017.
The singer flaunted new tattoos at the show. Possibly, as an aftermath of her split, etched on her left forearm, is a lyric from Pixies song, ‘The Thing.’ The tattoo has been created by Los-Angeles, based artist, Winter Stone, and reads, “My head was feeling scared, but my heart was feeling free.”
