The all-time favorite superhero, Iron Man, played by Robert Downey Jr., believes that it is time for him and the legendary Captain America actor, Chris Evan to step back and retire from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Evidently, after playing Tony Stark for nearly a decade, it was apparent to him that this particular chapter had come to an end.
In the hit movie, Avengers: Endgame, the respective characters met their ends, in vividly different ways. Tony Stark, aka, Iron Man sacrificed himself to save the world, and on the other hand, Steve Rogers aka Captain America stayed in the past and decided to spend his remaining life with Peggy Carter.
Post the series of events that took place in Endgame, and the reconciliation with its aftermath, in Spider-Man: Far from Home, it was predicted that in phase 4, Marvel Cinematic Universe, will introduce new characters in entirely new worlds.
The departure of the beloved characters has definitely upset the fans. Furthermore, there was a lot of debate revolving around Captain America’s final fate due to the consequences of ‘Time Travel.’ There’s no information as to whether he created an alternate universe to stay in the past or did he choose to return to the main universe later?
This clearly, made it obvious, that Captain America and Iron Man will not have prominent roles to play in the upcoming Marvel movies.
In an interview, with Disney twenty-three magazine, Downey Jr. said, “We had to get off. We opted to and knew it was it was part of the job to get off the bus while it rolled on other destinations. There’s something very sobering about it. I’m glad he and I will be there to welcome others as they retire their jerseys.”
Nevertheless, Disney has honored him at the Disney D23 expo by crowning him as the Disney Legend.
