Recently, Prince Harry and his wife Meghan were bashed for commuting by a private jet despite being advocates for saving the environment.
The private jet apparently releases much more than required amounts of carbon emissions in the air causing pollution.
Clarifying, Prince Harry, publicly said that he uses commercial flights ’99 percent’ of the time. However, after his marriage, he has been frequently spotted flying in private jets with Meghan Markle.
The Prince’s trip to Amsterdam to launch a new eco-friendly project was seen as an act of hypocrisy, due to his use of private jets.
Apparently, in solely the month of August, the Duke of Duchess and Meghan took four private jets in 11 days to reach their holiday destinations.
Prince Harry flew on a commercial flight to the Netherlands on Monday evening to launch a project aiming to curb the impact tourists have on places they visit, called Travalyst.
He was quoted saying, “Occasionally, there needs to be an opportunity (to fly privately), based on a unique circumstance to ensure that my family is safe- it’s as simple as that. For me about it’s about balance. It’s not a decision that I would want to take, but if I have to that, I will ensure that I balance out the impact that I have.”
As per sources, the Duke, also said he ‘offsets’ all his emissions by donating to renewable energy incentives and planting trees.
On August 6, the duo flew to Ibiza for six-day to celebrate actress, Meghan Markle’s 38th birthday. The round trip is estimated to have cost $72000.
In defense of the royal couple, some sites report that they were compelled to use private planes because they required ‘high-level of much-needed protection.’
Celebrities like Elton John and Ellen DeGeneres also showed support to the Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. They even tweeted against all the hate comments the Royal Couple has received so far.
