Britain’s Got Talent judge Simon Cowell, apologized to 2011 winner Jai McDowall.
Currently, Jai McDowall will is set to appear on the Champions edition of the American reality show. After the singer’s victory in 2011, Simon Cowell claimed that Jai was not a ‘genuine star.’
The show judge had supposedly publicly said that he was disappointed with Jai. He further went on to add, “You want to find someone who is a star all over the world and has got a long career. With respect to him, he wasn’t one of our best ones. He would make a good living in the theatre and is talented, but he wasn’t what I was looking for.”
Cowell continued, “You want a Diversity or a George Sampson or a Susan Boyle, a different kind of artist who is a genuine star.”
Jai previously worked in Ayrshire. He won in 2011, after defeating the hot- favorite, twelve-year-old, schoolboy, Ronan Parke.
In fact, the winner’s debut album ‘Believe’ was released on Cowell’s Syco label. However, the album did not fare well on the charts.
After Jai’s return to Champions, Simon Cowell said that the former is the definition of a proud man and he just came back to prove a point and rightly did so. He even gave a standing ovation after the singer’s performance. He also said, “I knew I had to apologize to him at that moment. It gave me a chance to say something publicly. I should have said some time ago.”
Killing the wrong vibe, Jai too remarked, “You have no idea how much that means- thank you. Thank you very much, Simon, for everything the show has given me. It has given me the lifestyle I can be happy about and the ability to follow my dreams- and I am so thankful for that.”
