Marvel has big projects planned for the future as announced in this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. Marvel’s Phase four is full of promise from movies to Disney+ shows. One of which is ‘Hawkeye,’ a Disney+ show set to air in the fall of 2021.
Currently, Marvel and Disney are sparing no expenses in getting the best actors and actresses cast in their projects. One of these talented individuals is Hailee Steinfeld, an Oscar nominee for her work in ‘True Grit,’ for the role of a main character ‘Kate Bishop.’
‘Kate Bishop’ in the comics
‘Kate Bishop,’ in the comics, is the female ‘Hawkeye.’ She was first bestowed the title of ‘Hawkeye’ by Captain America himself, after Clint Barton’s ‘Hawkeye’ was believed to be dead and that she was most befitting of the title since she was courageous enough to stand up for herself and the things she cared about in a way only Clint had before her. Later in the comics though, Clint Barton himself passed on his title of ‘Hawkeye’ to her by giving her his bow. They eventually ended up working side-by-side in Brooklyn, fighting crime.
About the show
Jeremy Renner himself is very excited about this show and its unique approach to his character. His exact words at the San DiegoComic-Con were, “The fiber of what Hawkeye is, at least what I think Hawkeye is, is a superhero without superpowers. And I get to teach someone else how to be a superhero without superpowers. I think that’s an amazing sentiment to share with people because that means everyone can be a superhero.”
Jeremy Renner’s ‘Hawkeye’ is going to be accompanied by this badass female fictional character, ‘Kate Bishop’ in the show. It is believed that he will be training her to be the next ‘Hawkeye’ during the course of the show. Hailee Steinfeld, as rightly believed by most fans, is expected to be perfect for this role. It would also not be her first time representing a superhero, as she has been the voice over for the ‘Spider-Man’: Into the Spider-Verse‘ character, Gwen Stacy.
Steinfeld’s possible troubles
Hailee Steinfeld also plays the main character ‘Emily Dickinson’ in the show ‘Dickinson,’ and if this show gets renewed for a new season, it could prove to be hectic for the actress. Playing the main character in two TV shows could most likely take a toll on her but let’s hope Steinfeld can manage through this packed yet exciting schedule.
But without a doubt, we are all excited to witness her join the MCU family, as ‘Kate Bishop’ could prove to be a very crucial character in the MCU’s future.
