According to several reports, there’s another “Game of Thrones” prequel series in the works, and this one will focus on the Targaryen family.
According to Deadline, HBO is moving ahead with yet another prequel series. The network is nearing a pilot commitment for the series based on George R.R.Martin’s novel “Fire & Blood.” The book tells tales of various Targaryan Kings, like Aegon the Conquerer, the first ruler of Westeros and Aegon the Dragonbane. All these are ancestors of Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clark) and Jon Snow (Kit Harington).
Though Martin has not yet completed his novel series, he is writing the Pilot along with “Colony” Executive producer Ryan Condal. The Targaryen series would be set 300 years before the events of “Game of Thrones,” exploring the beginning of the end for the House Targaryen.
The Cable originally announced that five spins off series were in progression. Out of the five, HBO is actively working on the prequel starring Naomi Watts. The show is set thousands of years before the events of “Game of Thrones.”
The series which is already in post-production will document the world’s descent from the Golden Age of Heroes: the origin of the evil White Walkers. Martin informally referred to the series as “The Long Night” in a blog post.
Jane Goldman and George R.R.Martin are the creators of the series. Goldman is also assisting as the showrunner. S.J.Clarkson will direct the pilot and be the executive producer.
The rest of the cast for that other series include Josh Whitehouse, Miranda Richardson, Naomi Ackie, Denise Gough, and Jamie Campbell Bower.
