A man in Pennsylvania blew up his own home on his daughter’s wedding day. Authorities are reporting the incident an apparent suicide.
This incident took place on Saturday, 14th September 2019, in the Edgewood area, 7 miles east of Pittsburgh. Most members of the family were not at the house at the time to attend the wedding.
Neighbors reported that due to the explosion, they felt tremors in their own houses. That is why they came out to see what was happening. The neighbors saw the owner of the house, standing outside the home, moments before an explosion occurred and the house went up in flames. The man’s identity has not been revealed yet.
One of the neighbors Dann Laudermilch reported that the house collapsed in one large movement with a lot of sounds, and took about a minute and a half to burn up. The owner was seen standing outside the house, right before the explosion, but after that, he was nowhere to be found.
Police and fire department authorities responded to the incident, and after a long search with heavy machinery, the body was retrieved around 8 PM.
Robert Payne, the Edgewood Police Chief has reported that it seems like the owner had disconnected the gas line in the basement, and that’s why it did not take more than a small flame to blow up the entire house. The authorities confirmed that they had previously visited the house on calls for domestic issues regarding the man’s mental health.
The incident has been ruled a suicide by the authorities. The man’s identity has not been revealed, and details about who lived in the house, with the man, have still not been confirmed. No other deaths have been reported, as nobody, except the man’s, has been found in the rubble.
