The Batman, directed by Matt Reeves, has made its official casting for Catwoman. It is none other than Zoe Kravitz. The 31-year-old actress, singer, and model will be playing the iconic role of Catwoman previously played by Anne Hathaway, Michelle Pfeiffer, Halle Berry, and Lee Ann Meriweather. Zoe Kravitz is known for her work in HBO’s Big Little Lies, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, X-Men: First Class, and Spider-Man: Into The Spider-verse.
Congratulations have been pouring in for Zoe Kravitz from many celebrities in Hollywood. Jason Momoa posted on Instagram, saying he is stoked that his stepdaughter is the new face of Catwoman. Jason Momoa is also Arthur Curry, aka Aquaman in the DCEU, and hence, he is proud of Zoe Kravitz. Anne Hathway also wished Zoe Kravitz for bagging the role of Catwoman. Anne Hathway was Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises. Halle Berry tweeted by welcoming Zoe Kravitz to the Catwoman family and shouted out to the eternally graceful and incredibly badass Kravitz. Halle Berry was the titular lead in 2004’s Catwoman.
Also, Michelle Pfeiffer has some advice for Zoe Kravitz before she takes on this role of Catwoman. Michelle Pfeiffer was in the 1992 movie Batman Returns as Catwoman. Funnily, she has advised Zoe Kravitz to make sure she can go to the bathroom while in the suit. Catwoman’s suit is just a black, tight unitard. “Make sure, while designing the costume, they consider how you’re gonna go to the bathroom,” Michelle said. “Minor detail, but it’s an important one.” It is so lovely to see these women welcoming and rooting for Zoe Kravitz to take on the Catwoman mantle. Fans are also thrilled to see Zoe Kravitz as the feline superhero.
Ironically, Christian Bale also gave the same advice to Ben Affleck and the newly cast Batman, Robert Pattinson. Robert Pattinson is been cast as the new Batman just five months back. The Batman, directed by Matt Reeves, hits the theatres on June 25, 2021.
