A mother from Virginia murdered her 2-year-old son by assaulting him awfully, and then she later dumped the boy’s body into a city-run trash incinerator plant in Hampton, Virginia. The mother then filed a missing report of her baby a week before the authorities discovered the toddler’s body in terrible condition.
The 35-year-old mother identified as Julia Tomlin has now been convicted of killing her son in court on Monday. Daily Press confirmed that the suspect is to appear on court on December 9 for hearing, but the fact that she entered in a recent plea remained uncertain.
Attorney Anton Bell, from Hampton Commonwealth, claimed that the crime was horrific. He also further added that in his 20 years of career, he had seen many outrageous and heinous conditions but had never witnessed an innocent child. He was shocked that the responsible factor was his own mother.
The autopsy reported that the cause of death was two skull fractures. Besides that, jaw fractures, hips fractures, and multiple lacerations in the body and ribs were discovered through autopsy.
The authorities previously arrested the mother in charge of child neglect following the missing report she filed. The court also reported that the boy was the victim of continuous abuse. The medical examination report showed that the boy was abused and battered to such an extent that prevented the growth of the bones in his body.
The authorities revealed that there might be another individual involved in disposing of the child, but no arrests were made except Julia. She is now being held at Hampton Roads Regional Jail.
