Nine innocent civilians died in the brutal gunfighting in Mexico. The attack was believed to be a drug-related rival gang war. All of the victims were US citizens, three women, and nine children.
The horrible incident happened near the town of Bavispe, about 100 miles south of the Arizona border. The people were traveling in three separate cars towards the US. In this horrible shooting, the survival story of 13-year-old is somehow inspiring.
The 13-year-old identified as Devin Langford, from the group was able to survive the terrifying incident. He also noticed his six siblings surviving the attack. The boy was devastated to discover that his mother and two brothers died in the shooting, but instead of mourning, he tried to safeguard his other siblings. He then quickly hid all of the surviving siblings into the nearby bush, and he planned to walk out for help. He reportedly walked 14 miles in search of help.
His 9-year-old sister, McKenzie, also managed to survive, and she traveled 4 hours before finding the survival. Luckily, all the eight surviving children got help, and they were flown to Arizona. They are now currently being treated at Tucson Hospital. Among the survivors, 8-year-old Cosy sustained gun a shot in the jaw and leg, 14-year-old Kylie was shot in the foot, 4-year-old Xander was banged in the back while 9-month-old Brixton received bullet on his chest.
The 29-year-old mother, Christina Langford Johnson, did the smartest thing to protect her daughter before getting shot in cold blood. She hid her 7-month old Faith Langford in the backseat of her car. She decided to stand in front of the shooter by getting out of the car, diverting the shooter not to attack at the car.
The investigators claimed that it was a planned and targeted attack, but later they believed that family came in the way of two rival gangs in Mexican cartel.
