Adam Gotsis, defensive end footballer for was arrested in March 2018 for being suspected of rape. However, it looks like the case is still dead as the plaintiff hasn’t pushed her charges any further.
The Initial Arrest: When and Why
On the 1st of February, 2018, a 30-year-old woman spoke with officials at the Atlanta Police Headquarters. He told investigators that he had met Gostis through a mutual friend a few years ago. On 9th March 2013, she accompanied him to a party. She then said that later, Gotsis took her back to his home and raped her.
Then, on 7th March 2018, investigators obtained a warrant to charge the player with rape. Gotsis turned himself in at a Fulton County Jail facility the same day and was released following his posting of a $50,000 bond.
The Charges Dropped: When and Why
Fulton County (Georgia) District Attorney Paul L. Howard Jr. announced a short while later that the football player would not be charged with rape as per the accusations against him about his arrest in March.
He attorney said that the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office had decided after conducting “a careful and thorough investigation.” Considering the results it yielded, they would not be proceeding “with the case against Mr. Adam Gotsis,” Howard said. He further added that his office had kept in mind the “sensitivity and significance” of the nature of accusations against him, but the evidence was inadequate and did not merit “any further action” in the case.
The same day, Adam Gotsis expressed his relief to the press. “I’m just relieved that everything has been taken care of,” the now 26-year-old player said. He said that he had complete faith in the legal system, in the Lord, and in his family and friends to get him through what probably was a difficult time for him. “[I had] great support from everyone around me,” he continued. Broncos, friends, family.” He said that he was glad that the case was done with and looked forward to putting his focus back into football now.
