Jeopardy! Host Alex Trebek reveals that he has pancreatic cancer. He is currently undergoing chemo therapy for stage 4 cancer. Trebek has hosted Jeapordy! For 35 years now. In an interview, the 79-year old revealed that ‘he is not afraid of dying’ because ‘he’s lived a good life.’ “The thought of pancreatic cancer does not frighten me.” He told CTV.
Also, adding, im guessing to lighten up the mood, he said, “One thing they’re not going to say at my funeral, as a part of a eulogy, is ‘He was taken from us too soon’” Though, on a serious note, he revealed that he is currently on his second round of chemotherapy and has also realised he has been losing hair due to the new treatment.
It is not confirmed how long Trebek will continue hosting the beloved game show. But in August, he returned to host the 36 the season. “I’ve lived a good life, a full life, and I’m nearing the end of that life. I know that. I’m not going to delude myself. So if it happens, it happens. Why should I be afraid that?” He has quite an open outlook on his life ahead — Ready for any obstacles to come and has accepted his fate.
With stage 4 pancreatic cancer, he has a 9% survival rate. He further shared that he had some issues with going public with the information about his illness. He struggled with talking and consoling others with the same disease because he couldn’t find the right words to comfort them. We will definitely miss Trebek as the host of Jeopardy!. As a result of his rigorous treatments, he might soon have to retire from his hosting days.
