Even as Aquaman 1 faced criticism from the critics, it was a big hit for the year. The lead actor Jason Momoa was well received and cannot help but give attention to the secondary villain character, the Black Manta, which was played by Yaha Abdul Matten II. The villainous character wore a bug helmet having a black assemble and those big red eyes through which he shot laser beams towards the Aquaman. It was not shown whether the character would return in the second movie, especially it being the secondary villain character; however, recently, Yaha broke the news on the Internet that he will indeed be returning in Aquaman 2.
He goes on to share his excitement about reprising the role saying that he would like to add flesh to the character and bring it alive, he would like to give more to the character of David Blaine and that he is excited for the release which schedules for December 2022 if all goes well.
Not much is known about the plot lines or even the title of the movie however it would surely be a delight to see Yaha bring life to the character of Black Manta and may even increase the importance of the character, he can also turn out to get a boost and become the main villainous character. What happens in the second Aquaman movie is yet to be seen.
The first movie was got mix reviewed from the masses and the critics alike garnering around 72-65% rotten tomatoes; however, Yaha’s performance was quite appreciated by the critics. The below is a statement about the same “We have a date of December 2022. Hopefully, that will hold. Black Manta will be back – I feel confident in saying that. I’m excited to step into that world again and cause some more trouble. I really want to add more personality and more character to David Kane and flesh him out in Aquaman 2 and give him more of a journey.”
