Top 5 Most Anticipated Anime in 2020: Attack on Titan, Demon Slayer and MORE

After 2019 proved to be another fantastic year for anime, fans can look forward to the next decade bringing in more cheer as next year’s line-up promises to be just as spectacular, if not more.

Here are a few of the many amazing shows that’ll grace the shores of the anime community in 2020.

Honorable Mentions

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (Shin Project)

The trend-setting twisted psychological romantic harem is back. In an unexpected announcement this month, fans can now expect the infamous show to be back after 14 years. While as of now, we do not know any details, but from the looks of it, it seems that it’ll tell a new story- which promises to be just as bloody and twisted as its predecessor.

Dr. Stone: Stone Wars

5. Haikyuu

Returning after almost four years, Haikyuu has always been modern sports anime royalty. With Miyagi Preliminaries wrapped up, our heroes are on their way to move to the promised land of Nationals in Tokyo. Before they do so, they must train to become stronger. While a training arc seems drab in any other show, Haikyuu uses it to introduce new characters, establish bonds, and set up future plot points. One might argue that it is because of the training arc that we can enjoy the tournament arcs more.

Production I.G has also decided to modify the art style for the season to match those in the manga- a move that has been well received by the fans. The show will be a split cour, with its first cour to start airingĀ 11th January onwards.

4. Re: Zero karas Hajimeru Isekai seikatsu Season 2

Yes, the glorious combination of isekai, waifu wars, and time looping is back. The trailer is already out, and it’s already promising to be another mind-breaking experience for our protagonist Subaru. What is exciting the fans is the possible appearance of the rumored evil witch Stella being hinted at in it. Slated for an April release, fans can’t wait to see what this show will bring to the table

3.Promised Neverland Season 2

One of the unique ongoing franchises from the Weekly Shounen Jump fold, Promised Neverland, was one of the most popular shows of 2019. With an announcement of Season 2 immediately following the heels of the season finale, there is no doubt of success in the minds of the fans and the folks at Cloverworks. Will we finally know what happened to Norman? Would all the kids survive the outside world (doubtful)? We’ll get answers to this and more in 2020. The exact release date is not announced yet.

2.Demon Slayer: Infinity Train Arc the Movie

The most popular (and according to some detractors-the most overrated) anime of 2019, Demon Slayer wowed the hearts of fans worldwide. With its manga sales skyrocketing in Japan to the extent of it ALMOST beating the legendary One Piece and Episode 19 trending worldwide #1 on Twitter, it’s safe to say the show has sufficient hype going around it.

The movie, which is to cover the next arc, will most prominently feature Rengoku, the Flame Hashira alongside our unlikely central trio of Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke (and Nezuko). We can’t wait to see what spectacle studio Ufotable has in store for us. If “Fate Stay Night: Heaven’s Feel” is any indication, Ufotable on a movie budget will be a feast for the eyes.

1. Attack on Titan: The Final Season

The title says is all- the final season of the titan killing-action packed mystery show is here.

After the game-changing Season 3, all the show needs to do is to deliver on the promise it has dangled in front of the fans (which, again, to the manga readers is something that has been happening.) The release date and the studio to be handling Season 4 is unannounced. One can hope WIT Studio might take up the mantle one last time, although seeing how they’re busy with other shows like Vinland Saga, it seems unlikely. In all probability, season 4 should be out by Fall 2020.
