The fan has been waiting with bated breath for Black Mirror Season 6.
But at this point of time, the optimism has given way to cautious doubt as there has been no official word on season 6 as of now.
Will we get a Season 6 or is the show cancelled?
Most probably, it will be back. Everyone knows that Netflix’s primary criteria for renewing shows are the audience response and viewership numbers. Season 5 performed exceptionally well despite the diminished episode count.
Seeing the response and success of the previous season, we can easily surmise that Season 6 should be released sooner or later.
Why is it getting delayed?
Radiotimes has attributed the delays due to some possible snag in production.
It is common knowledge that Season 5’s standalone episode “Bandersnatch” had a rather complicated production process. It ended up delaying the season’s release and resulted in a decreased number of events.
It is highly possible that after its success, the folks in charge might be attempting a similarly intricate production for another season, and that is what is making them hesitate to confirm anything yet.
Brooker (one half of the creator duo in charge of the anthology) has hinted towards some tinkering with the format of the series. He expressly said that they were open to one-offs or an ongoing story or even spin-offs.
Keeping the roaring success the franchise has proven to be in the last five years, and it’ll be upset if Netflix doesn’t retain Jones and Brooker for at least another season.
At this rate, considering we have no official announcement yet, we can expect the sixth installation to be released in the latter half of 2020 at the earliest.
Readers should bear in mind that all of this is mere speculation as no confirmation has been received from the side of Netflix.
No announcement on this front as of the time of writing this article. We can expect to have a bevy of some fresh faces and some big stars like the previous seasons. Keep your eyes on this space for future updates.
