The story begins with the character Kraam as the protagonist. An aura of mystery surrounds him after certain revelations in the first episode.Karam studies in an elite school on an island. On what seems to be the last day of school, some students plan to stay back to end their school life with a bang. And as in every such series, it doesn’t go as planned. The Tsunami hits, stranding them on the island, and their path to survival and escape is the main plotline of the series.
The Thai series seems a lot like another Lost or Cast Away. It also comes with a blend of various other series such as the Dark and Society. The result was an inconsistent and messy storyline. The makers put up many instances to make the show appealing. Mystery sonic sound bursts, a strange fog in the jungle, a cave system that may hold the key to everything are some of them.
Weird character transformations are another in the list of negatives from the series. These happen at a quick pace with no logical reasons. Talking about logic, its the last thing you should expect in some instances. It will probably save you the time to figure out why or how some things happened. The frequent use of flashbacks to define each character is also somewhat tiring at times.
The cinematography of the show is appreciable. The beautiful location offers us some breathtaking frames. And by compiling them with some subtle edits, the series steers clear of such technical aspects.
The cast consists of stars from the Thai film and television industry. Sinjai Plengpanich, Sarunyoo, Hattaya Wongkrachang, Winai Kraibutr, Beam-Papangkorn Lerkchaleampote, Pat-Chayanit Chansangavej, March-Chutavuth Pattarakampol, Jack-Kittisak Patomburana, and Oab-Oabnithi Wiwattanawarang will reprise their roles in the second season. New characters, along with the portrayal of those referred in the first season is also possible.
The Thai series, which appeared on Netflix last year, will have another season. They owe it to the viewers who made it to the end of the first season.
The second season has not been announced officially. But, considering the content of the series and the bulk of questions unaswered, its inevitable. The story has good potential, but it should stay away from adopting the styles of others.
Season 1 has had average reviews from the fans and not so good take on from the critics. The makers should put in a lot of effort to make the series more appealing to a broader audience. Netflix’s attempts to diversify its content and widen its base have worked out pretty well in recent times. Sacred Games, La Cas de Papel are two of such which have met with notable success. Their entry into the Thai industry also has the same aim, but whether Stranded will thrive as others is something that we should wait and see.
