Yes, the huge movie franchise of Lord of the rings is returning on the screens but this time as a TV show. Amazon Studios have been asked to take up the task of redirect the movies as a series. The first movie’s planning started in 1995 and after 25 years of glory, they are coming back to entertain us. We don’t know much about it yet, but here is what we know so far.
What is the release date for the show?
The production of the show was supposed to begin in 2019 or 2020. We don’t know when is it going to be released but the show has already been renewed for the second season. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Amazon exec Jennifer Salke said, “It’ll be in production in two years. 2021 is hope. But there are other people who wish it was 2020.” Some reports said that the filming of season 2 might start while filming season 1. Thus we will have to wait for more details.
Who are the writers and directors of the show?
The writers chosen for the series are JD Payne and Patrick McKay, who will also act as showrunners for the show. To describe their role they said, “We feel like Frodo, setting out from the Shire, with a great responsibility in our care. It is the beginning of the adventure of a lifetime.” (Well said!!). Bryan Cogman, best known as the assistant and writer of some of the great episodes of famous HBO series Game of Thrones, will be joining the team as a consultant.
Gennifer Hutchinson (Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul), Helen Shang (Hannibal), Justin Dohle (Stranger Things), and Stephany Folsom (Toy Story 4) will also co-write the episodes of Lord of the Rings. Jurassic Park: Fallen Kingdom director, JA Bayona is signed up as director for the first two episodes of the series. He will also act as an executive producer.
Other team members are costume designer Kate Hawley, production designer Rick Heinrichs, visual effects supervisor Jason Smith and many more. Thus, a great team has been selected for the show.
The cast of Lord of the Rings show?
Robert Aramayo, Owain Arthur and Nazanin Boniadi will act as leading stars. They will be supported by Tom Budge, Morfydd Clark, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Ema Horvath, Markella Kavenagh, Joseph Mawle, Tyroe Muhafidin, Sophia Nomvete, Megan Richards, Dylan Smith, and Charlie Vickers. Morfydd Clark will play the younger version of elf Galadriel. Also, Maxim Baldry is confirmed to play a significant role. The actor for the role of Gandalf is not confirmed yet.

What is the plot of the show?
The scripts are not complete but the show will be probably set 3,441 years before The Fellowship of the Ring. The story is probably about young Aragon.
