Carnival Row season one came out on Amazon Prime Video last year, i.e., 2019. The show is fantasy-based with shades of the real world for the refuges. It is set in the Victorian period during which fae refugees are fleeing from their homelands and are treated with suspicion and hatred from the humans.
The story follows Vignette Stonemoss, a faerie who is aiding her fellow country people to escape. She eventually meets Rycroft Philostrate, a human, and they fall in love with the rising political tensions of the city. The show has an essence of magic-realism to it. It is no surprise that fans are eagerly waiting for the second season. Here is everything we know about Carnival Row season two.
The release date of Carnival Row and does it have a new showrunner?
Amazon has invested a lot in Carnival Row, which has big names as well. So, it was not surprising that the eventual release of season two was already confirmed right after season one came out. Carnival Row is the first one of Amazon’s fantasy series. Although the official date for the release is not yet announced, we are expecting the second season to drop sometime next year. For now, we know that the show is through the production stage.
It looks like Carnival Row is going to have a new showrunner. Due to creative differences, co-creator Travis Beacham will not be working on the second season. Marc Guggenheim is also out and is replaced by Erik Oleson.
The plot and cast of Carnival Row Season 2
Season one ended with Philo declaring that he is a crutch and joining Vignette and his fellow faes in the Carnival Row. The second season will focus on the fae’s fight for liberation against humans. What will happen to the star crossed lovers Imogen Spurnrose and Agreus Astrayon? All that remains to be seen.
Both Cara Delivingne and Orlando Bloom are going to be back for the second season reprising their roles as Vignette and Philo, respectively.
