It did not take a genius to figure out that Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy 2’s ending teased future sequels. So much is going on in Marvel’s Phase 4. The Guardians’ sequel, too, was scheduled to be released as a part of this phase. However, the firing and (re)hiring of Director James Gunn has unfortunately pushed back the making of the movie.
Fortunately, Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios, has confirmed at Comic-Con that the third Guardians movie is being worked on and will be released even if it’s not one of the five movies planned for Phase 4. And with James Gun back in the Director’s chair, the excitement is hard to control.
The plot of Guardians Of The Galaxy 3
Fans surely remember Ayesha, the gold-skinned High Priestess last words, “Adam” while she glanced at a cocoon-like structure, and it is without a doubt an easter-egg for the arrival of the Marvel’s cosmic superhero, Adam Warlock. Moreover, the Gamora here is the one from Endgame’s past timeline. Hence she doesn’t have her history with the Guardians.
It would be a treat to watch her try to kill Quill (Star-Lord) again because of his ‘pelvic sorcery.’ A backstory to the origin of Rocket, too, is expected as James Gunn had mentioned that he wanted to finish his arc.
The cast of Guardians Of The Galaxy 3
The main cast, i.e., Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Dave Bautista (Drax), Bradley Cooper (Rocket), Vin Diesel (Groot) and Karen Gillan (Nebula) will be back. James Gunn wants Elizabeth Debicki to reprise the role of Ayesha along with Sylvester Stallone, and fans can’t wait.
The release date of Guardians Of The Galaxy 3
So when will we get to see the Guardians again on the big screen? Well, not before 2022. The massive Phase, four announcements at Comic-Con, confirmed movies all through and till the end of 2021, and the best bet lies in the month of May or June as both the previous movies were released around this time.
