Anime series are always unique, and when it comes to the Japanese Manga series, it’s just of another level.
When we hear the word ‘anime,’ we think of it as a humourous show. But the series I am going to talk about today involves a completely different aspect.
Beastars is a Japanese series that involves drama, romance, mystery, and thriller. The show is based on a manga series by Paru Itagaki. It was imprinted on a Weekly Shonen Champion.
Akita Shonen is the one behind publishing the series. Later, it turned into an animated series. Beastars is directed by Shinichi Matsumi. The show is animated by Orange studio. Moreover, it has won many awards. Amazing right?
RELEASE DATE: BEASTARS
Season 1 has been released on March 13, 2020, on Netflix outside of Japan.
Beastars is about a huge gray wolf named Legoshi, which is an anthropomorphic animal. He joins Cherryton Academy, a school consisting of all the herbivores and carnivores animals. One day, a herbivores student gets killed and eaten. All of the students suspect Legoshi, the gray wolf, due to his scary physic. Also, it creates a huge fight between them. But his true friends know he won’t hurt a fly.
Above all this, Legoshi develops feelings for a white rabbit, Haru. To prove his innocence, Legoshi starts the investigation of the murder.
I think Beastars can’t be ignored considering it as just a Manga Series. The show provides meaningful content. The conflict between herbivores and carnivores depicts the human conflicts around gender or class differences. Legoshi was easily judged by the way he looked rather than his character.
Beastars is much more than what it looks from the outside. It shows the value of manliness, racism, the way you see others, and the way you hide from others. It’s a much watch show, and I hope you enjoy it.
